Liverpool International Tennis Tournament
On Thursday 17th June 2010 a group of year 7 and 8 pupils visited the Liverpool international tennis tournament with the P.E department. It was a an exciting day out and a chance for people to understand tennis properly, as well as watching future professionals tennis players perform for us.
The first match we watched was between Englishman Neal Skupski and Nicolas Massu of Chile. It was an interesting match where a single mistake could cost you the game. At the end of the nerve racking match, the game went to Massu 7 6, 6 4. Another match we watched was between Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) and Ana Bogdan (ROM) resulting in a score of 6 3, 6 4 to Eugenie.
Next we had our dinner and a chance to explore what Calderstones had to offer. Local companies David Lloyd, Lifestyle and Vauxhall presented stands and gave out balloons and hairbrushes for members of the community who attended the event. There were also food stands where you could buy ice-cream, chips, do-nuts and drinks.
After that we watched more tennis and interviews with the audience one of which had travelled from Washington to watch the tennis also people from France and other European countries visited to, as well as people from all over Britain.
We learned a lot from the experience and the best part was we were out in the sun with our friends and teachers.
