What is the coursework?

?
  • The coursework is the equivalent to the writing paper. Instead of doing a writing exam, you will have to submit three pieces of written work along the year.
  • One piece will be done in the classroom, another one for homework and another one as a controlled paper.
  • The controlled piece can be prepared at home beforehand but once it starts to be done it can't be taken home.
  • Each piece of coursework is worth 20 marks of the GCSE exam
  • Make sure you hand out your coursework before the deadline!!

Any tips that may help?

!
  • Your guide should contain between 100 and 150 words of Spanish.
  • For higher marks, include three tenses: present, past and future or conditional. One way of doing this is to include quotes from people.
  • For higher marks, also include opinions, accounts, descriptions, points of view, ideas...
  • Try to cover all the points given in the instructions.
  • Use as much vocabulary related to the topic as you can.
  • Do not be over-ambitious. Don't think up ideas in English and then try to translate them directly into Spanish; it doesn't work! Keep your Spanish simple but correct, focusing upon spelling and grammar.
  • MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL USE YOUR CLASSWORK!
  • For ideas about your coursework go to your textbook. For vocabulary and grammar structures go to your vocabulary book and to your revision lists. But remember that for the controlled paper you will only be able to use a dictionary.

PRESENTATION IS IMPORTANT BUT IT IS THE QUALITY OF YOUR SPANISH WHICH COUNTS! USE AN EFFECTIVE LAYOUT, BUT DON'T FORGET TO FOCUS MAINLY ON THE WRITTEN SPANISH.

  • You can do your coursework by hand or on the computer (if so, be careful with spelling!!!)
  • It is advisable that it has illustrations such as pictures, photos, tables which you have cut out of brochures and magazines...
You can also download illustrations from the net! www.clipart.co.uk
  • Make it as bright, eye-catching, colourful and "professional-looking as you can!
  • Vary how your present your Spanish.Use boxes of text, bullet point lists...
